What is real prosperity

What is real prosperity? Where does it come from? How do you know if your doing the right things? I was searching for the right words and came across one of my favorite stories ever. I think you may enjoy it as well. If you do, please share this link & story with everyone you care about.

Here’s the story:

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the
express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”

“It was great, Dad.”

“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.

“Oh yeah,” said the son.

“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered:

“I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Isn’t perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don’t have.

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

“Life is too short and friends are too few.”

Direct Sales Tips – The Best Direct Sales Companies

Are you thinking about getting in to direct selling? Are you already in direct selling and not sure if you are representing a great direct selling company?

Good direct sales companies are few and far between, so let us give you a list of qualities to look for when looking for good direct sales companies.

Good compensation plan – Of course this is number 1 on our list, if you aren’t making a decent income off of each sale, then it is going to take a lot more work just to make a decent income. Think about it this way… if you make $1.00 off of each widget you sell for company A, and you make $5.00 off of each widget you sell for company B… you have to sell 5 widgets with company A just to make as much as you would if you sold 1 widget with company B. Also look at the compensation you get from your downline (people joined under you). This is very important because a successful team under you can provide a very lucrative income in itself.

Good quality product – This is important because you must believe in the product or service you sell. If you are a true believer, then you can pass that feeling on to your customer MUCH easier than if you don’t really believe in the product or service. This is a very important key to success when dealing with direct sales companies.

Help from the top – Good direct selling companies are willing to help out their consultants and provide excellent service to them as well. Look for a direct sales company that offers help, low start up costs, and marketing ideas for it’s consultants.

Good reputation – It doesn’t matter how good the product or service is or if the price is the best in the market if the direct sales company has a bad reputation. You, the direct sales consultant, CANNOT overcome the bad reputation of a direct selling company. If the company has a bad reputation, it is time to move on to a different one. In fact, it is much better to represent a direct sales company with NO reputation than one with a BAD reputation.

Internet sales – A good direct selling company will provide a way for your customers to purchase from you on the internet. In today’s market, you must have this technology to use. If your direct sales company does not have a way for customers to find you online and purchase services or products from you on the internet, you are losing a great amount of potential sales and income. This is important to your business.

Look for these five points in any direct selling company you are interested in and if they are missing one, move on. These are important keys to your success and with the number of direct selling companies in existance today you can find one that offers all five of these key points. Some companies will have two of these qualities, some will have three, but you need to be only concerned with the companies that offer all of these points because this depends on your success in the business.

Direct Sales Opportunity: Is It Right For You?

Working as a direct sales consultant, direct sales rep, or whatever else direct sales companies call their salespeople, is not for everyone. Direct sales does take commitment, dedication, and time. Then why would someone want to take a position in direct sales? What is the direct sales opportunity?

The opportunity that direct sales position brings to the table is the flexibility of time, schedules, income, and management. As a direct sales consultant, you have the flexibility to set your own hours, work on your own schedule, and not have an official boss to answer to. On the other hand, this flexibility can be what hurts your success as a direct sales representative. If you have a hard time with commitment, working when someone isn’t watching you, or just motivation in general, then this flexibility could be detrimental to your direct sales career.

In order to have success in direct sales, and create a business that provides you with a full time income and beyond, you must have some drive and motivation that will keep you working even when you don’t have anyone to answer to. Actually, you do have someone to answer to: yourself. If you can stay on track, and work when needed and be an outgoing and personable direct sales rep, you will have success in direct sales.

Let’s look at the benefits of flexibility when it comes to direct sales. You set your own schedule and hours. If you need time for an appointment, a day off for a short vacation, time to yourself… you can take this time and not have to request it off or schedule it around what your boss will allow. Also, if you want to work more hours and make more income each month, you can do this as well. With direct sales, you will make more money with the more work you put in. At a normal 9 to 5 job, you are going to make the same amount of money each month if you work hard or work just enough. With direct sales, your income will increase if your commitment and dedication increase.

Another benefit of direct sales is that you can do it part time and still make a decent amount of extra money each month. You can work a few hours each week with your direct sales business and receive a decent commission check each month as well as free products, depending on your direct sales company’s compensation plan. You can work your direct sales for a few hours each week and build enough business and income to allow yourself the option of deciding to quit your regular job and move into a full time business that gives you the greatest flexibility.

Tax Tips for Small Business Owners

Every year dozens of new tax laws are put in place that give birth to new deductions and credits, while others expire. A well informed tax preparer should know all of these updates and inform you of them, but do not leave everything to them. Keeping yourself up-to-date as well will ensure that you do not miss a thing.

Know your Deductions
As a business owner, you have a whole list of deductions all your own to use. First and foremost, you can write off any expenses necessary to run your business. In order to qualify, the expense must be necessary and ordinary. You might want to run any and all business expense deductions by your tax professional so you know they are okay to deduct.

Keep Organized
As you probably already know, running a business requires a lot of documentation. This documentation is your number one tool for filing your taxes, both annually and quarterly. Keep all business-related receipts, copies of client payments, and any other business expense you need for taxes. These documents should be well organized, and easy to access when it comes time to file.

Be Charitable
Giving to charities throughout the year will benefit you in more way than one. Charitable donations are always tax deductible, so you can take advantage of that. In addition, as a small business owner, you benefit from the free publicity of listing your business as a charitable donator. For example, donating money to the local little league team could get you a sign on their baseball field. Look into charity options in your community!

Track Tax Times
Do not forget – as a business owner you need to pay not only your annual state and federal taxes, but your quarterly payments as well. Make very sure you have reminders on in your planner or on your calendar for all tax deadlines that concern you.

Payroll Taxes
In addition to being on top of your personal and business taxes, you should keep yourself informed on employee taxes as well. If you enter in some numbers wrong and accidentally put your employee claiming 0 all year instead of 1 as they requested, that is a lot of cash you will be shelling-out come tax time. In addition, it is good to be knowledgeable on employee taxes so that you can provide any employees educated answers to tax questions.

Year-End Efforts
At the end of every year, business owners all over the country scramble to buy things they need for the office, and other expenses for the business to keep them on that tax season. You should do the same! Taking year-end deductions will make it easier to budget, and save you tons of cash.

Hire a Professional
This should be a no-brainer, but with the economy right now, a lot of people are considering doing their own taxes this year. However, this can be a very bad idea. While personal taxes are often pretty simple, business taxes are not. With the constant change in business tax rules, it is difficult to stay updated when it is not your industry. It is also easy to miss things when you have been looking at the same documents for a year. Hiring a professional for your small business’s taxes will be well worth the extra cash.

MLM Success and the Law of Attraction

It would be a disservice not to take some time to address the impact of the Law of Attraction on the level of MLM Success one can achieve. Regardless of how you conceptualize the workings of this law, whether merely as a psychological process or spiritual one, it would be wise to give it some attention.

Have you ever landed on a website just to be assaulted by ads, pop-ups and flashing buttons desperately trying to get you to click on something to capture a dollar? What was your reaction?

Have you ever opened an article just to find out that the title was deceptive and it was really just one big sales pitch for whatever the author was trying to desperately pitch? Did you decide to join their opportunity?

Could this be the Law of Attraction at work?

As Network Marketers we are extremely focused on success… You have to have respect for anyone in this industry as it shows that they are part of the few people actually working to achieve their dreams. So many in our society don’t even try.

However… You have to ask yourself whether your communications are sending the right message. Do they really communicate success or desperation?

The Law of attraction is a way of saying “like attracts like” or “what you put out you will see in return.” For example, someone always looking for a fight will usually find one!

Additionally the Law indicates that every subject is really two subjects. This is important to our discussion of MLM Success because many who are looking for success are really desperately trying not to fail.

There is a huge difference in the “energy” of these two subjects.

Success & Failure are intertwined really being two sides of the same coin. So many in this industry are struggling, frustrated, desperate, tired and discouraged and yet they continue to fight, they continue to push …and they still see no success.

You really do have to admire the effort but there is an easier way.

Instead of fighting to paddle upstream to the land of failure wouldn’t it be nice to let the current take you downstream to the land of success! That is where you are trying to get to is it not?

How do you know what you are attracting? Simply ask yourself how you feel in this very moment. Do you feel abundantly successful?

Which brings us to HOPE. Many do sit down in front of their computers feeling hopeful that their efforts will see results but hope is also an uncertain and future vibration.

SUCCESS is a confident and present tense feeling. Unless you first feel successful you will never be able to create the MLM success you are looking for.

Hope attracts hope. Success attracts success.

Whether we are discussing an immutable law of the Universe or a self fulfilling prophesy is a mute point. The evidence is clear… ask yourself how you feel and then ask yourself if the results you have seen match.

Do you want to change your results? Then you absolutely must first change the way you feel. There is no other way around it. You cannot create success feeling frustration or any of the other negative emotions.

MLM Success is about, what you think, how you feel, what you believe, who you are and finally what you do. Everyone starts with action, yes action is necessary but only after you have addressed your internal reality will you see positive results from your efforts.

There is absolutely nothing outside yourself holding you back from the MLM success you are looking for. The Universe is abundant, opportunity abounds in every direction. This is a multi-billion dollar industry.

I know what you’re thinking but…the current economic situation is only an indication of mass consciousness…you do not need to accept a poverty mindset just because everyone else has.

For example…Amway Global signs up twelve thousand new distributors a day! With a 95% failure rate imagine the number of people out there from this one prospect pool that are in need of your help!

BECOME an MLM Leader by virtue of who you are and the success will manifest.

The opportunity is there! All the success you are looking for is right there.

Are You Setting Smart Goals?

I am going to be bold and state that everyone sets goals. But, there is a vast difference between achievers, smart goal setting, and simply setting goals. I want to ask you a question – are you doing smart goal setting when setting goals? Join me as I show you how you can start smart with setting goals.

Setting goals and achieving goals is both a science and an art. There is many ways to go about it, you can be analytical with goal setting or you can start getting creative. In either case goals fall down into 2 parts.

The 2 parts of goal setting, can be thought of as a piece of string, a timeline. This timeline has a point A and a point B. These points are critical, because point A shows you in your current position, and point B shows you at your goal achieved.

This looks good so far, but why doesn’t everyone achieve there goals? The biggest problem is that most people don’t go through both parts. Without setting effective goals, there is no way to maneuver to the destination.

You see, most people will set goals. They will set goals at New Year, when it is time to go on vacation, etc. But, they will never sit down and plan the most important destination, and that is life.

Goal setters are a different breed of people. Instead of focusing on such words as fate, destiny takes on a new meaning, because day by day, you can design your life, how you want. And this is the domain of the goal setter. Because they are focused to do, be or have something.

In my research, I have found that approximately 50-60% of people who set goals, achieve them. This may seem like flipping a coin, and goal setting may not prove successful. However, the truth is that when we take a look at the New Year resolution goal achievers, the figures dip down into 1% success rate.

So, smart goal setting is about tipping the balance in our favor. And there are many ways to accomplish this. Writing your goal down adds a few percentage points in your favor.

Add a goal setting system to this equation and you can take the success rate even higher. Now, there is only one part that makes or breaks all these benefits, and that is action.

Now, I can’t stress the action part. Some people are all for the action, and forget the goal setting and planning phase, while others don’t act. And here is the biggest concern, because the goal setters, who don’t make it, are those who don’t act.

Action is the most important part, because goal setting can take you a week, it could take a day. If you have been looking at setting life goals, you can easily do that within a week or like I did, invest a whole month into the process.

That is small in comparison to the action necessary. When I set a life goal, it requires decades of effort. Action and smart goal setting is the only way to achieve success.

The Difference Between Hard Selling and Networking

For many people the word “networking” has a negative connotation. This is in part due to the fact that many salesmen abuse networking to push their products or services. So let’s take a deeper look into the difference between (hard) selling and networking to solve some of the misunderstandings about networking.

The main difference between selling and networking is that in a sales process the goal of the interaction between two people is the sale of a product or service. When networking, this sale could be the consequence of a contact that is built with respect and care. So it is clear that the sale is not the goal of networking, but a nice and in many cases a logical consequence.

The comparison below goes into the details of the difference between selling and networking. The table shows several elements of “negative networking” by hard sellers on the one hand and “real networking” on the other hand. Hard sellers who network are focused on the short term while real networkers focus on the long term.

  1. Hard sellers who network are focused on the short term while real networkers focus on the long term.
  2. Hard sellers who network try to detect a need that can be satisfied by their product or service. Real networkers share any information that can be interesting for the other party.
  3. Hard sellers only give when they have an immediate profit. Real networkers give without expecting something back (and in the long run this usually pays off better too).
  4. Hard sellers who network listen in order to get the deal. Real networkers listen to help.
  5. Hard sellers ask questions in order to be able to position their product or service better. Real networkers ask questions to be able to be of better assistance.
  6. Hard sellers find people interesting only if they are a potential customer. Real networkers find everybody interesting as a contact. You never know what or who they know.
  7. Hard sellers who network want to collect and distribute as many business cards as possible. Real networkers ask and give business cards to people with whom they really established contact.
  8. Hard sellers talk often only about their product or service without listening to others. Real networkers See to it that others always talk more than they do, listen carefully to them and encourage them to tell more.
  9. Hard sellers who network try to bring the attention to their own product or service. Real networkers recommend products or services of people in their network (and only if they are relevant for the people they talk to).
  10. For hard sellers who network the goal is the sale. People are a means, a resource (sometimes even a necessary evil) to reach that goal. For real networkers the goal is to establish and maintain contacts and build relationships. One of the possible consequences is a sale.

To make it even more clear, I have a small example for you.

Situation: a salesman of fire extinguishers meets the manager of a local affiliate of a bank at a reception of the Chamber of Commerce.

Hard Selling

The salesman does his sales magic to convince the manager to buy fire extinguishers for his office. He is a good salesman and he manages to sell 5 fire extinguishers.

The evening of the salesman is a success.

Networking

The salesman is interested in the manager as a person. Amongst other things he learns that the manager is a passionate sailor and that he is looking for a new boat. The salesman remembers that a friend of his has a boat for sale. He not only passes this on to the manager, but also provides them with each other’s contact details the following day. A week later the boat has a new owner.

Four months later the salesman receives a phone call from the manager. The manager asks him to deliver new fire extinguishers for the office and for the facilities of the sailing club where the manager recently became chairman. Moreover the manager proposes to write a letter to all the members of the sailing club with a recommendation for the fire extinguishers of the salesman.

The year of the salesman is a success.

What about you? Are you more of a hard seller than a networker? You don’t have to be a salesperson to be a seller. Everybody has to sell continuously. You have to “sell” the next project to your management team, you have to “sell” to your partner to go to the movies instead of spending an evening at home, you have to “sell” to your children that they keep their room clean, … Everybody is a seller in one way or the other.

Let me repeat my question. What about you? Are you more a hard seller or more a networker?

Jan Vermeiren

These is an excerpt from the boek “Let’s Connect A Practical Guide for Highly Effective Professional Networking”.
